Day 21

Case of Necklace

1. When Mother Aisha was accused of slander she went to her father's home until the situation was resolved. She spent almost a month at the house of Abu Bakr being away from the Prophet.
2. All this time, the slanders were continuing to make rounds. Mother Aisha was oblivious to it for most of the time but when she finally heard what was actually being said, she wept for days together.
3. She's weeping for like more than 2 days at stretch when Prophet visited her. Prophet comes to her and says, " I have been informed so-and so about you; if you are innocent, then soon Allah will reveal your innocence, and if you have committed a sin, then repent to Allah"
4. Mother Aisha while narrating this Hadees says that when Prophet said this her tears dried up! Because Prophet was implying "IF". Her parents were present there and she became so furious that she asked her Mother to respond to Prophet instead.
5. Her Mother was like, "that's Rasool allah, how can we respond to him" Then she asks her father to respond, her father said the same thing. Then she decided to respond herself and the way she responded was unimaginable.
6. She started to shout at them saying "if I tell you that I am innocent, you will not believe me, and if confess to you about it, and Allah knows that I am innocent, you will surely believe me...
7. If find my case similar to Yaqoob a.s. when he said "'(For me) patience in the most fitting against that which you assert; " She then lied down turning away from all of them.

She quoted Quran to Rasool'allah and to the next best man after him!
8. Not only that she finished her speech and turns away from them and most importantly when she quoted Quran she implies that she's being patient! She's furious and in a way yelling at that time but she's saying that she's patient!
9. She's shouting at the Prophet of God and at her parents and she's saying that she's patient! When the verses were revealed that proved her innocence, her parents asked her to go to Rasool'allah and she says "By Allah I will not go to him and I praise none but Allah"
10. She's accused of slander but she's throwing tantrums around and when she's exonerated by Quran she shows gratitude towards Allah and not towards the Prophet! And all this while she claims to be patient! And Allah doesn't rebuke her even once in the revelations
11. Which in a sense means that being patient doesn't mean being stoic, you can display emotions and you should but without crossing the limits. Also, the fact that different sufferings demand different forms of patience.
12. You can't expect a woman accused of slander to show same patience as that of a guy who lost something. Similarly, you can't expect women facing harassment to tone down things for your ears when they decide to come forward.
13. They have Mother Aisha's example for being unapologetic. It also displays the beautiful character of our beloved Prophet. He didn't reprimand her or got angry at her outbursts because he too understood that this was normal for someone to behave as such when accused.
14. Emotional outpouring is welcome when you suffer- express yourself, you will do yourself a great favor.
