Not everything is feminist, but feminism is about everything. However: everything a woman does or doesn't do is NOT a feminist act just because she's a woman. Hiring a cleaner or not hiring a cleaner - is about fairness, decency & integrity that should guide any employer...
Who on earth could disagree with the point that demanding a cleaner come into your home at this time is neither fair nor decent & would put that worker's health & life at risk & their families. Who on earth would suggest that taking issue with that point is a feminist act?
Anyone calling themselves a feminist would hopefully have an understanding of social class oppression & the feminisation of low paid work deemed low status because it's seen as poor women's work. For the record I've never employed a cleaner & I've also done work as a cleaner.
Incidentally, I do feel for ppl who have chronic ill health or disabilities & who relied on employing assistance to keep their homes clean & safe, probably now shielding & in impossible situations for many reasons.
Finally, lots of ppl have successful cleaning businesses & lots of women are employed in that sector; it's a fundamental profession that literally saves lives, especially in large settings/institutions & I think it's a skilled job & should be much better appreciated & remunerated
