Seen some "generational" talk on the timeline tonight.

Jonathan Taylor is an incredible prospect. But he is far from generational.

It should also be noted I am not a JT hater.

He is currently my RB12 overall in my dynasty rankings on patreon.

Ive seen several in the analytics and film community claim that JT would have been a first round pick if we werent living in the age of "RB's dont matter"
The http://NFL.com  prospect grades have been pretty good at predicting high draft capital RB's.

Saquon Barkley received a grade of 7.45. He was then selected 2nd overall in the NFL draft.

By their grading standards 7.45 is a "Perennial All-Pro"
Ezekiel Elliot was given a grade of 7.09 and then was selected at 4th overall in 2016.

By their grading standards that is "All-Pro".
In 2017 Leonard Fournette was selected with the 4th overall pick after receiving a 6.8 grade.

That equates to a "Year 1 quality starter"

Notice how these grades have absolutely nothing to do with the positional value of RB's?
Jonathan Taylor was given a grade of 6.41. He was then selected in the 2nd round of the NFL draft.

A grade of 6.41 is given to a player that "Will be a starter within first two seasons"
JT was simply not selected in the early first round because he did not grade highly.

It isnt an RB's dont matter conspiracy.
Then there is the fact that literally NOBODY is going to look at Saquon Barkley as a prospect and take two other running backs before him.

Not only was JT not an early first round pick, he wasn't even the first RB taken in this class....
JT is an absolutely terrific running back prospect, but this narrative about him being generational is non-sense.

He is Nick Chubb. Nick Chubb is also amazing, but Nick Chubb isn't generational and neither is Jonathan Taylor.
