if this thread has any semblance of truth, then gyeoul would be a great motivator for jeongwon to continue being a doctor. not simply as a romantic interest, but as a representation of hardwork, resilience, and a strong mental disposition.

if jeongwon's defining trait is kindness, then gyeoul's is being steadfast in all facets of her life, may it be love or work. she has been firm & unwavering since the beginning of the series, despite the scoldings and dangers around her. #HospitalPlaylist #WinterGarden
she's often projected to be someone with a "cold" personality, but i don't think it's that at all. being "cold" implies the lack of warmth, and she certainly isn't someone who can't be "warm" in a personal sense.

#HospitalPlaylist #JangGyeoul
we see gyeoul treat interns to meals, we see her give med students sweets, she buys food for everyone, she gives good and reassuring advice to her juniors, she praises her seniors (albeit in a backhanded way lol), and she's bffs with minha

#HospitalPlaylist #JangGyeoul
the only time she's actually "cold" is when she's drowning in work or trying to explain medical stuff. it's not that she's cold—just straightforward in technical. rather than being unsympathetic, she just reacts in a different way.
#HospitalPlaylist
when she basically (unknowingly) guilt tripped that mother for not performing cpr (yikes), she tells jeongwon (who was scolding her) that she thinks that the mother should know the facts of the case and stands firm that she was right in telling her.

#HospitalPlaylist
of course, we KNOW she's wrong because there's a certain etiquette you have to follow as a doctor—and you have to follow it even if you're forced to omit certain facts. jeongwon knows this, and teaches her what to do.

#HospitalPlaylist
by this point, jeongwon doesn't have a favorable impression of gyeoul—thinking she's lacking in empathy and a know-it-all. BUT, that point of view changes because of the maggot scene.

#HospitalPlaylist #WinterGarden
gyeoul cleans the mans rotting leg from the maggots with her own hands while saying nothing and with an expression that implies that it doesn't bother her at all. while the other doctors and nurses hesitate and make faces, she does her job dutifully and wo delay #HospitalPlaylist
it's possible that here, jeongwon realizes that it's not that she's incapable of feeling for her patients, it's just that what she believes should be done is different from the norm. she doesn't react the same way as other doctors and it's baffling. #HospitalPlaylist
we see that in the way she handles the child abuser, as well as the mom asking about the surgery. the problem gyeoul has to face is trying to unlearn her impulses and preconceived notions.

#HospitalPlaylist #JangGyeoul
and what's great about gyeoul is that she's always willing to learn, always willing to improve, and always willing to move forward. we KNOW she's going to be a better version of herself by the end because she's simply not the kind of person to not TRY.

#HospitalPlaylist
she has a very assertive personality. she doesn't shy away from anything, unlike jeongwon who's characterized as someone who tends to avoid confrontation (seen when songhwa asks what she should do about stealing a surgery from a senior bc she can do better) #HospitalPlaylist
we often see how jeongwon and gyeoul's personality differ, and the most common contrast is that he's warm and she's cold. but they differ in more ways than one. let's use the MBTI, for example. There are 16 personality types, but they are coded with either A/T
#HospitalPlaylist
below is a brief explanation of being (A)ssertive and (T)urbulent, and i think (A) fits gyeoul very well, while (T) fits jeongwon well too. they could balance each other out.
#HospitalPlaylist #WinterGarden
but the problem lies in the "eager to improve" part of jeongwons (T) personality. theres always going to be a part of him thinking what if and if he becomes a priest, it'll haunt him for the rest of his life. he cant improve on being a doctor if he isn't one. #HospitalPlaylist
aside from gyeoul learning from jeongwon, it's possible that jeongwon has a lot to learn from gyeoul too. if anything, i want their relationship dynamics to be like this. i don't want it to be one-sided, as if jeongwon's already this perfect man with no flaws #HospitalPlaylist
idk about anyone else, but a relationship where both sides can grow together is amazing and i really want to see it in a k-drama (slowburn is a great place to start too!!)
