Just finished watching "I want to eat your pancreas" for the 2nd time and I'm going to write a thread on it since it should get the recognition it deserves. Please mute this thread if you have not seen it to avoid spoilers.
for starters, this time I did not cry watching it because I knew what was going to happen. It just put a lot of stress and straining on my emotional heart and is sad asf if you think about it.
Haruki Shiga was an antisocial boy who just read books and kept to himself and most of his classmates found him to be weird and off-putting (that's what he was thinking). Sakura's best friend Kyoko even questioned on why she was hanging out with him in the first place.
I liked it when she told Haruki (about her condition) not even to her best friend since junior high school. It's even heartwarming to me that she wanted to spend every little moments to the best of her ability with Haruki. That whole hotel interaction scene was amazing đŸ„șđŸ„ș
She wanted her best friend (Kyoko) and him to get along but also wanted to get to know him better and be closer to me. You could also say she was slightly interested in him but it's not very clear throughout the film. But she was doing her best to get him to come out of his shell
With them hanging out, she really made Haruki into a new person as it seems, he started started to worry about her more after Kyoko confronted him on that staircase about what his feelings towards sakura was. Sakura was very appreciate of what he said under the fireworksđŸ„ș
What hit for me under the firework scene was that he confessed to her about worrying about her, he really wanted her to live and spend time with him. Being all romantic and cutesy as I'm writing this thread. I really think he started to care for her and he wanted to thank her đŸ„ș
obviously the unexpected happened to her, she was in the hospital for 2 weeks and got discharged after those two weeks and Haruki waited in the cafe for her until dawn but she never came :(. Something tragic that happened to her which made Haruki break down and depressed :(
