The Socialist Alliance has pulled out of the Victorian Socialists, effectively ending its existence as a unique political project, over the larger Socialist Alternative bloc voting down a motion from independent members over more democratic control. https://socialist-alliance.org/news/socialist-alliance-withdraws-victorian-socialists
The little response from Socialist Alternative members I could find suggest their membership had little respect for the separate organisation, seeing it purely as a vehicle for their own growth. The existence and growth of independent members undermined that.
I'm obviously not a Victorian Socialists supporter and I was skeptical of it's viability as an electoral vehicle from the start, but I'm still sad that it's ended this way. I look forward to working with Alliance and independent socialists alienated from this party in the future.
