i’m translating from what korean fans are saying right now. nct dream’s r word controversy might not be how it seems so please read this for another perspective #NCTDREAM
this is from lysn
from lysn
this is from my korean friend, these are her two korean responses:
friend: omg hahaha
friend: eh? no no this is a slip up
jaemin wanted to say 저’명’ (prominent) after he said 유’명’ (famous) but ended up saying 저’능’ (r word). he corrected his wordings quickly afterwards
throughout the conversation, jaemin was praising haechan “유명하고” (famous), and corrected his words to “저명하고” (prominent) and also said “똑똑하고” (smart)
it does not make sense that he would say the r word amidst of this positive conversation
my korean friend confirming that it was a slip up and in korean context nct dream did not mean it in a negative way
if you are offended by what they said, you totally have the right to be offended since your feelings are valid. but i hope people can try and look at the situation in a different perspective so we won’t falsely assume what nct dream has said
tw: r word
another update from my korean friend
moreover if it was in an offensive manner, sm editors would’ve edited it out before uploading it. makes no sense that korean editors would upload something that would affect the artists’ image
