Put your politics aside and just be glad that the states choosing to re-open are not experiencing massive upticks in COVID-19 cases and deaths. This is very good news, at least for now.
We should all want the economy to open up, as quickly and safely as possible.
It should be clear by now that there has been no massive uptick in cases or deaths in states like Florida, Georgia, Colorado, etc. This is a GOOD THING. Obviously, things could change, but initial signs are very good.
and stop saying 'just wait two weeks'. It has been two weeks since some in the media stated that Georgia in particular was experimenting with 'human sacrifice'.
If your political fortunes rest on the damage being done to the economy by continued mass closures, shame on you. We should all be in this together.
I actually DO think things are re-opening too quickly and that it is going to lead to problems. However, I'll be THRILLED if it turns out I'm wrong.
My hot take is that even though things are 'open', people still aren't crowding into them as fast as they might be if they believed things were 'normal'. This sense of caution may turn out to be a saving grace.
also, it's basically a given that Trump has completely screwed the pooch by downplaying this for months instead of mobilizing federal resources to rapidly increase testing capacity, the race for a vaccine, etc. He needs to be voted out regardless of what happens to the economy
at this point more economic hardship is just hurting your fellow Americans more than it hurts the President. So stop hoping for it.
we're going to lose at least 100,000 people and probably more because of a virus that Trump downplayed during the very weeks that an effective federal response could have been mounted. That's on him enough that he deserves to be obliterated in November.
