Was told today by a smart guy that Trump has been weak on China. And Obama did something Bc the TPP. They built military bases in the pacific in our allies’ territories. Wouldn’t have happened under Trump.

TPP was nothing like the trade war. Trump took it directly to them, using our economic might to make china’s investment market uncertain, dropping their stock market like a rock while ours soared after initial pain.

They cheapened their currency when we added tariffs so Trump officially labeled them a “currency manipulator.” He knows the Chinese hate being called out like that and it was among the first things to go - even the week before deal was signed.

They hate on the tariffs and say it bankrupted farmers but actually China ended up paying for them with the tariff imports. China needs the US more than we need them and Trump used this in our favor. Consumers felt nothing from tariffs. And they’re still on -

Something trump could remove to give the economy some breathing room but he probs won’t. Companies are shifting entire supply chains from China still Bc of the uncertainty. When this is all over we’ll be happy he did that and it may even lead to the fall of the CCP.
