twitter has been awful for my mental health with the pandemic going on, and this site has had major problems (you all know it, that's why everyone calls it hellsite)

i have a mastodon account that i love a lot of course, and i use it more...

I deleted my twitter long ago but joined back when i wanted to follow furry artists, and met tons of good friends here, friends that are ONLY on here

I can't see myself being here anymore, I just need to cut the bad vibes out of my life for good

It's hard

I don't want to lose contact with some of you, but there comes a time when you just have to rip the band-aid

the only reason this site is so bad yet so popular is that people put up with the administration of it and no one leaves no matter what happens

I'm not gonna delete my account just yet but I'm very close to doing so

I'll miss the shark girl community here a lot, and I'll miss being able to see and commission from all the artists that are exclusively here but all the shitty stuff going on here is hurting me

It's hurting you too, you might've just gotten used to it like I did. Take a day or two off and see how your mood changes. Notice how the in-your-face blasting of misinformation and all the bad news going on around you is making you more stressed, and the shitty trending tab

and I realize that by posting a link or mentioning masto, i'm probably getting myself shadowbanned because twitter's been consistently doing this to people I follow that are primarily on the fediverse like me

why this thread now? I was talking with friends on discord discussing the stuff with FA, and one of them was talking about how they just quit with the first sign of trouble and never looked back

sure, you're left out of a lot of the community, but if more people just quit these places that do harm, then less people will feel stuck to those places out of fear of losing out

don't get me wrong, if you don't want to leave for these or other reasons, i don't blame you and i won't force you to take the plunge

hell, i'm still not committed totally, it's hard

just know that i get that feeling
