‼️BREAKING: Oklahoma legislature overrides Gov. Kevin Stitt's veto of the FY 21 budget.

It's a $7.7 billion plan that makes smaller total cuts than Stitt said he thought would be necessary.
The override caps a session that quickly grew contentious as the relationship between the Governor and top lawmakers of his party publicly deteriorated.
The budget cuts many agencies by about 4% and cuts education by 2.5%. Some agencies are cut by more, some less… and some received an increase.
Gov. Stitt says he and his team were not included in negotiations. Lawmakers say his team walked out of negotiations. Communication between the two branches seemed to be a key issue, and some lawmakers speculated that the Gov may not have been getting good info from his team.
The legislature contends that this budget limits cuts to core services amid the pandemic. Gov. Stitt said he’s worried this budget will cause the state to be in a very difficult situation next year for the FY 22 budget.
The House will return tomorrow morning at 9:30. The Senate still has to vote on whether to override a trio of bills that redirect money to prevent ed cuts
