One of my dad’s mantras was that you use the right tool for the right job and you’re not respecting the tool if you just use it for random jobs. I don’t want to judge him too harshly but we shouldn’t read this tweet and think “man Amash really respects Hayek’s thought.” 2/2
We should look at the tweet and say “Amash really likes to tweet about Hayek.”

I mean, look politicians are going to be politicians. We shouldn’t have expectations that are too high on these dimensions. But we also shouldn’t get star struck. 3/2
(I feel the same way about AOC’s many Econ references btw - it’s awesome and exciting but I also try to manage my own expectations).
