I'm not sure people really read the sworn declaration Flynn submitted on January 29. Let's look closely at the claims he made.

First, he claims he didn't lie. But he said he did, twice, under oath--and multiple other witnesses were sure he did too.

Flynn claims he still doesn't remember whether he discussed sanctions in the call.

The record DOJ released last week make it clear that was the ONLY thing he cared abt on the call.
Flynn claims he was really busy when the FBI came to interview.

The uncontested record is that the FBI agents were wondering why he had so much time to shoot the shit with them (my words, not theirs).
This is, IMO, the most honest part of Flynn's declaration. He says he's trained only to share w/those with the need to know.

True! Also why he's such an accomplished liars.

Problem is, had admitted under oath that he knew at the time that lying to FBI was a crime.
This passage, abt all the other people he had allegedly more interesting convos with, is probably not true. But it's interesting given today's unmasking faux scandal.
An exhibit Flynn himself submitted showed that Covington found another unconflicted lawyer and said, go talk to this dude. Flynn did not (and, as we'll see, left that out of the declaration).
Flynn talks about legal bills here, but there's a very good question about whether Covington ever got paid for a big chunk of this.
Just flagging this claim. Covington has submitted 600 pages, in part to tell their side of the story.
DOJ has not released Flynn's 302s in the BuzzFeed FOIA yet, tho Flynn now has them. This description certainly SOUNDS like Covington realized that Flynn wasn't all that forthcoming in that first interview (something prosecutors have hinted at too).
Flynn's description here suggests that Covington's very good lawyers believed that Jr was at real legal risk. That's inconsistent w/all the posturing about threats to his son.
There are probably multiple reasons why Flynn said this. But I'm just leaving it here for everyone who had to undergo FBI interviews w/o Covington lawyers.

Or 30 years of relevant experience.
This is an important point in Flynn's favor. I wonder if it shows up in his 302.
Flynn cuts off the narrative abt his cooperation by returning to what he claims were two warnings about conflict.

The record shows there were (at least) three.
From there, Flynn reverts to pulling rank. Bc everyone knows Generals can't commit crimes.
This is an utterly central claim in Flynn's narrative.

Remember that RWNJs were giving Flynn misleading version of this, misleading versions that still hold sway.

But it's also one Flynn said didn't matter in his 12/18/18 sworn plea colloquy.
As noted, it appears Covington had already told Flynn that Jr's exposure was real. Which makes this muddled, not least bc lying well is not a defense to lying knowingly, which other witnesses would have backed.
I would bet a good deal of $$ that the government has in its possession evidence this is not true -- that Flynn knew this at the time, which is why he asked it.
That Covington gave Flynn this warning and Sidney Powell presumably did not says a lot about which is the competent counsel.
Remember, in 2019, all Flynn had to do was testify in EDVA and resume his probation track. So I'm hoping we get to see Covington's version of this story (it would represent at least their 4th attempt to encourage Flynn to get a second opinion).
Flynn ends with a claim, basically, that bc he's a General he can't commit a crime (an argument that would be unlikely to appeal to Sullivan).
