I said I would post about my Grandma’s family and so here I am. A thread. #PattersonGenealogy

Here is my grandmother, Anitra Patterson, holding her little sister, Jenny Patterson, on the waterfront (now landfilled and made into social housing) in front of Bellevue Hospital
My grandmothers parents were Anita Pinner, a German Jew from Koenigsberg who escaped Germany in 1938, and Lawrence Patterson, a black man from Watkins Glen, New York. In this thread I’ll focus on Lawrence’s family, but my grandma was mostly raised by her mom.
From left in this picture: Jesse Franklin Patterson (Lawrence’s father), Lawrence Patterson, Anitra Patterson (my grandma), Anita Luise Pinner Patterson, and Marguerite Elsie Patterson, née Darrow. This is just after Lawrence’s graduation from Hofstra University, probably in 1950
