The Library Archives of Canada has hundreds of documents from the RCMP surveilling and interrupting sundances across the prairies from after confederacy until the early 1900’s, you can’t convince the RCMP learned and knows nothing, I mean their work was to enforce the #IndianAct https://twitter.com/slangeneggercbc/status/1260620897083248640
Why here is one example from 1923, at Hobbema, where the RCMP were brought in to disrupt a sundance in authority of their Indian Act Section 149, the “Potlatch Ban” which mass ceremony a criminal offence (LAC)
Here we go another one a few days later at Waterhen, I suppose the RCMP didn’t know, “these dances must stop” which at the following Treaty Annuity the people were read the Indian Act for threat of enforcement
This one the next year involved “some drunken white men” hmm...
These ones learned their lesson and lawyered-up before holding their sundance, smart... but the Indian Affairs of Canada we’re smarter, the Indian Act soon included it as a criminal offence for our Indian ancestors to lawyer-up
Do the RCMP still know nothing about sundances? For god sakes they’ve been to more sundances than my whole family tree, they prolly know more about sundances than the average sundancer!!!!
Here, one George Tanner went to jail for giving stuff and gifts away, no lawyer allowed for defence, you can’t tell me the RCMP didn’t know, they always know... it’s a shameful crime to be an Indian
Ok, the last paragraph of this RCMP report is worth a read, the people of Little Pine did their very best to make plain how ridiculous the Indian Act is, the cop was sure they would hold the dance on some corner of the Rez, haha can’t stop ndns from being ndns
To conclude our brief walk, not dance, through the Library Archives of Canada I leave you this: “the Indians [state] that in their own minds they had done nothing wrong and were only worshipping God in their own way similar to other religious denomination...”

LEAVE US ALONE!!!
Speaking of other denominations, why do they got to stick their noses in it?
Why did RCMP have so much work with sundances, the Indian Commissioner put it this way:

“after they have been held the Indians who have taken part cannot, like white people, peacefully resume their normal activities...”

The above was circulated with slander of TB contagion
