Last spring, I got to serve as interim director of ops for @ClemsonRowing while also doing sports info duties and creative for @ClemsonTigers.

Finally going through all the content captured and wanted to share some favorite photos and thoughts about working with this team.
Content is so much more than action shots and gameday. Some of my favorite portraits were taken waiting for our luggage or during a lunch break. You may not be able to use these on a team account, but the value of these photos to athletes is high.
Relationships matter. Get to know staff, coaches, athletes and from there, begin to feel out what your level of access into team moments is. Emotion and focused shots are awesome in team huddles and meetings.
We practiced how to stay focused even with a camera up in your business.

Shooting at practice, I would tell them to find their game face or to pretend it was raceday. When it was time for the real deal, the focus was learned and natural and I wasn’t a distraction.
But when the time is right, stage the shot. Ask them to smile, to pose, to show their personalities!
