Really enjoyed putting together drills and some feels that have helped me. Thread to follow:
-warm up with coiling around the back hip
Launch position off the tee with constraint:
- no false moves and be quick with the barrel
Launch position drop drill:
-helps with barrel quickness. Can be very frustrating
Two tee high tee drill:
-good for the spin rate heaters.
-This a “feel” i need to take my game swing on this pitch
Mixed flips from launch position:
-let the ball get into your zone and be quick with the barrel
Normal flips with tee constraint:
-helps with bat path and staying tight with your turns
Net drill:
-helps with staying through the baseball and not pulling off/flying open
Early go drill:
-start your move on “go”
-hold the back hip as you move
Lob balls and mixed flips:
Thank you for watching. These drills have been implemented over the last few years based on MY needs. Working on perfecting these drills and always trying to get better. Everyone has different drills and different feels. There is no absolute one way to do it #HittingTwitter
During my launch position drills I like to be a little looser in my upper body. When I start thinking about upper body/hands I get tight and get very shouldery. for me when im relaxed in my upper body and focus on the lower, i am quicker. My hands naturally get to the spot
Approach: mostly always thinking drive something in the oppo gap. Will adjust based on who’s throwing. Spin rate heaters and high velocity I focus more on driving something to center field. Rarely will think about pulling the ball it just happens when I am early/on time
Feels: most the time I’m thinking top hand down to the ball. Everyone in the league throws 95+ with spin rate so that’s a thought for me to not swing underneath it. If I’m facing a sinker/off speed guy i think turning the barrel behind me and lift it
