the story of p.o.p: what really happened to the group
p.o.p was a 6-member group that debuted in 2017. unfortunately, the group essentially disappeared and fans never received an official explanation or statement from the company, which left a lot of questions
the group was co-managed by two companies: RBW ent (mamamoo's company) and DWM ent.
according to rbw's wiki page, rbw provided "artist training/album production & promotion & marketing" in 2016 and 2017
before debut, the group went through some lineup changes with no explanation
this was the original lineup in 2016. only 2 of the girls (haeri and yeonju) ended up debuting with p.o.p. i dont know what happened to the rest of the girls
in 2017, the new p.o.p lineup performed in mnet’s idolcon concert to promote their upcoming debut. the song was “step by step” from their debut mini album

the group then started posting covers. their cover of royals led them to gain some popularity on twitter, particularly among international fans
then, on july 26 2017, the group debuted with “catch you.” the song was produced by iggy youngbae, 2 producers who had most notably worked with gfriend. they gained some attention early on for having a similar sound to gfriend
but the group only promoted for a week without complications. on august 1, the youngest member, yeonha, went on hiatus after becoming very ill. she was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis.
on october 24, she terminated her contract with the company and left the group
a month later, p.o.p opened their makestar project to fund their first comeback. they raised more than double their goal in 4 months, and everything was looking good for a comeback!
p.o.p had a few promotion opportunities around this time, including a cf, a magazine photoshoot, and a competition called pocket star go
but then, in may, p.o.p seemingly disappeared. they stopped posting on all of their sns channels, and their ceo stopped talking about them altogether. these are the last social media posts about the group.
the members all essentially fell off the face of the earth for MONTHS. after 6 months of silence, all of the girls opened their own personal instagram accounts in november 2018
but heres the weird part. ot5 regularly hangs out together, but none of them ever visit with yeonha. most of them dont even follow her on instagram. why?
ot5 posted about p.o.p on the groups anniversary, but yeonha has never spoken about the group
in late 2019, haeri finally gave fans the information we had been asking for. https://twitter.com/pop_archive/status/1185849122206543877
but still, this is not confirmation of disbandment. the members (minus yeonha) continue to celebrate milestones
p.o.p’s ceo, kim dongwook (pictured), never gave an explanation for the group’s disappearance. he simply stopped talking about them and started to promote his new artist, ione
but wait! it gets weirder! ione isnt even a dwm artist. and the dwm website hasnt been touched in 2 years.
so, it can be assumed that the company shut down, which is why p.o.p disbanded
