I just want heidi to write in a pregnant woman and her husband who live with another married couple, all eagerly awaiting the birth of the child, only for val to find out that the women are lesbians and the men are gay. And it kicks off her own journey of realisation. 1/9
The women question her about the way she looks at Lucille during their home visits. "She& #39;s my friend." They& #39;re totally unconvinced. 2/9
They give her a card with the address of the Gateway Cafe. Val goes. Sees women together, happy in their moments of freedom. And it clicks. She& #39;s felt something more for Lucille and has never been able to define it. And now the definition is in front of her. 3/9
She starts avoiding Lucille as best she can. Stops the little passing touches. Is as stiff as a board at the kitchen table and in the supply room. Can barely look her in the eye. 4/9
This lasts a good chunk of the season. Lucille confronts her after a birth they& #39;re attending nearly goes wrong because of a miscommunication. Because they& #39;re no longer on the same wavelength. 5/9
"You won& #39;t look at me, you pull away every time i touch you...what have I done wrong?" Valerie tells her nothing is wrong, even though she still can& #39;t hold her gaze. "Don& #39;t lie to me. You& #39;ve been off since *lesbian mother* gave birth...you need to tell me what happened." 6/9
"I can& #39;t." "Why not? A baby nearly died tonight because we, because something is wrong and you won& #39;t tell me." And as they argue about it in the downstairs hallway, they get closer, till they& #39;re standing toe to toe. Val is looking everywhere but at her. Tears have appeared. 7/9
"Val, please tell me." Lucille moves to comfort her and Val steps back. "You& #39;re my best friend," Lucille tells her, "when something hurts you it hurts me too." Val is practically sobbing, cornered against a wall. Lucille is crying now. She reaches up to wipe at Val& #39;s cheeks. 8/9
The dam breaks with the move. Val kisses Lucille, chaste, softly, barely there. Lucille very briefly kisses back before Val pulls away, and steps around her, disappearing up the stairs. End season on Lucille& #39;s confused/surprised/understanding face. 9/9
