Stevie was instrumental in finally getting a bill to pass to make Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday a National Holiday. (Took over a decade) He wrote “Happy Birthday” for his 1980 album in honor of MLK and to promote the bill. It was signed into law in 83 & first observed in 86.
During part of his “Classic Period” of 71-76, Stevie worked with producers/engineers Cecil & Margouleff who used the biggest synthesizer in the world. It was called TONTO and took up an entire room.

One of music’s biggest mysteries is a supposed secret album that Stevie produced for the Jackson 5. One song, “Buttercup” (amazing!) was released on a Motown J5 compilation in 2009, but the entire album is apparently in a vault somewhere. (Please find it Stevie!

In 1973, Stevie was a passenger in a very serious car accident in North Carolina. He was critically injured and some reports say he was in coma for 4 days. He made a full recovery and released “Fulfillingness& #39; First Finale" in 1974.
A shelved album.
Stevie originally planned to follow his 1974 album “Fulfillingness& #39; First Finale" with “Fulfillingness& #39; Second Finale" but it was either shelved or evolved into other work.

Stevie started writing “Until You Come Back To Me” when he was just 13. He recorded it 1967 but it didn’t become a hit until Aretha Franklin recorded it in 1973. (His version is better IMO)
