Friends, we’ve been on the live feed of the @cityofcalgary council meeting since 9:30am today about the bylaws against conversion therapy. We have heard monstrous statements from people who have called in, and I caution any conversion therapy survivor from tuning in. (Continued)

I want all queer folks to know that even though conversion therapy perpetrators have gotten airtime today, that their statements are untrue and not the majority. There is nothing wrong with who you are and who you love. There are so many of us here, for you and with you.

And we will never ever give up. Our identities cannot be changed and are not up for debate. No false interpretations of scripture and no debased statements about “choice” could ever take anything away from who we are, as our whole, beautiful selves.

You should not have to listen to people who hide behind religion to glorify and justify discrimination. That is not religion, that is tyranny.
You are loved and not alone. Take care of yourself today. There’s no need for you to listen in. We’ve got this.
