Its ya girl, ready to tweet another Gospel Discipleship webinar. I'm fresh off the awkward youth group leader fill-in and in an hour I go into a church meeting. Tonight is packed, but I still have some time to tweet about this webinar!
Tonight is a more interactive night, less about our author/presenter Michelle Morris and more about those who are Markan disciples that she's gathered for tonight.
As a refresher, Gospel Discipleship is about four different streams of growing in Christ. When we understand and can articulate our discipleship type, we can better live it out.
Markans are Holy Spirit-inspired disciples.
The Gospel of Mark is about a cosmic battle of good vs. evil. Jesus behaves much like the Holy Spirit in this Gospel. There are also mysteries and tension throughout. The word "immediately" is used more often than not. There are many "sandwich" stories popping in and out.
This means that Markans are creative, messy, wildly inclusive, gifts-centered, will tell you "no," and hate "we've always done it this way." They've had a very real experience with God and the Spirit - and when they feel the Spirit's absence, they will just leave.
Markans also have "spiritual ADD" and are constantly chasing the Spirit.
Panelists are sharing what it means for them to be Markan. Examples: frustrations with working with non-Markans who aren't as restless to jump into something, the need to write down ideas as soon as they come, and high creativity.
One panelist share that they never connected to Myers-Briggs or Enneagram. But after reading the section on being Markan, it all clicked.
One panelist share that they don't have a problem saying no to something if it feels "hollow" and they don't feel the Spirit moving in it.
The Markan panelists want to emphasize that they don't hate tradition, but they want to make sure that there are reasons behind the traditions instead of just doing what we've always done.
Markans are able to be focused, speak directly, and are not interested in micro-managing others.
Morris: Although all disciples are driven by the Spirit, Markans feel it as a burning in their bones. They have to do it and have to move.
One Markan panelist says they feel the Spirit is always offering a "course correct" - and that, for them, is discipleship.
Just left to sing goodnight to my kiddo. Came back to hear a panelist say they see this time as a "Pentecost moment" and a time to see new possibilities. Now I'm off to a church meeting! Hope you enjoyed this thread if you followed along!
