No, I’m not a health care provider. I’m an immigration advocate who had every intention of appearing in person at my clients final hearing this afternoon. I’ve been worried for weeks if I’d have the right protection or not and it was ultimately all for nothing. #releasethemall
The detained immigration courts across the U.S. are open, putting judges, court staff, interpreters, advocates, visitors, and many others at heightened risk.

The Chicago immigration court recently closed for three days due to someone presenting with COVID-19 symptoms.
But this was determined via investigative journalism, not an announcement from the courts.

Needless to say it was highly discouraged for me to appear in person at my final hearing today by the court. I obliged and appeared telephonically and the number of due process violations
Grew as the case went on. Luckily my client won in the end and will get to keep his green card! My colleagues and I are struggling to work among COVID-19 as we represent detained immigrants. I am proud to be part of my team!
