I Dey Kai I roam Accra then Kumasi moving from radio station to radio station with my songs, paying huge sums of money just to get my song aired and hopefully get interviews to help promote my song only for them to play it once or twice, with barely any interviews.

The amount of money some of these stations demand is absurd but we still found ways to get the money and paid what we could. They take these monies (Payola) from up and coming artists with absolutely no source of income, struggling to make it out

..only to play a few seconds of their song. We go fit mention names but fuck that. U then grant them 5 minute interviews with claims that you’re “pushing them”. Tbh after paying all these monies and yielding nothing I was at the brink of giving up cus I had exhausted all my funds

I was broke, in debt and frustrated. Only God knows how I came out of that. Free advice. These greedy fucks at the media houses will take all your money and fuck you over. Invest your money in polishing your craft and targeting more digital audience. They listen to quality stuff

Grow your digital fan base and constantly feed them with amazing content. When you’re relevant there, the greedy fucks will come chasing. I wish I had gotten this advice before making certain moves but God made me go through it so that you won’t have to. Only you get the vision.
