I join San Franciscans of all backgrounds in condemning the political grandstanding that led to the rejection of sitting commissioner @CRubke from the @sfmta_muni Board https://twitter.com/apthornley/status/1260582156050608129?s=20 1/
Our Richmond District has the most-used bus line west of the Mississippi - the 38-Geary. A majority of the Board, including our own D1 Supervisor, apparently believes that free service can be achieved on this essential line in the face of a historic economic downturn. 2/
Elderly and vulnerable populations need service. A free, but bankrupt, public transit system doesn't help them. The @sfmta_muni under the leadership of @jeffreytumlin is making tough calls. Nobody wants to make these choices. But hiding our heads in the sand is not an option. 3/
This is a smaller battle in a larger war. I think @marcus_ismael sums it up best: https://twitter.com/marcus_ismael/status/1260673951392346112?s=20 4/
I am running to be a Supervisor who will protect the interests of their district but who can also act in coordination with independent commissions to serve the city as a whole. This interference smells bad because it doesn't serve transit riders. 5/
What can we do to support excellent public transit in San Francisco, knowing what's coming down the pike ? First of all, we can get behind this D1 activist who will be a fantastic addition to the MTA Board: https://twitter.com/wafoli/status/1260607659457167366?s=20 6/
Third, we can elect district Supervisors who will fight for their neighborhoods but who also understand that we all rise and sink with the fortunes of the City together. Join my campaign at http://votemarjan.com . /8
