Continue staying at home. Literally nothing has changed about the susceptibility of contracting this virus. The *only* difference is, there are now more hospital beds & equipment to treat the increase in people getting sick. That’s it. https://twitter.com/thesportscrib21/status/1260700259598110721
Which, I’ll be clear, was the goal with the Stay At Home order that he laid out when it was first announced.
Each of these goals has been met based on the press conference @GovTimWalz just gave.

But while these goals have been met, they don’t do anything from keeping us or our loved ones from contracting the virus when we do venture out. Not a thing.
This was always going to be a very delicate line to try to balance, no matter what.

After reading this piece by Dr Erin Bromage, an Immunology & Infectious disease professor, we decided to take our daily walks without wearing masks.
We take a route traveled by very few if any people, if we do run into people, we cross the street.

We wear the masks or cover our faces with our shirts while exiting & entering our building, which has 1 elevator and shared stairwells.
We still open doors by backing into them or using our sleeves. Press buttons with elbows. Wash our hands when we get in.

We’re still going to limit our grocery trips, defer touching our faces until our hands have been washed, keep a distance of 6ft or more on the rare occasions we are in public..
What I worry about is all the people who will take this as an opportunity to stop doing these things.

My parents live in Big Lake. What my dad refers to as “Michele Bachman country”. He said people up there will *shame* you for wearing a mask.
On Sunday I visited from a distance & masked for Mother’s Day.
The brewery had a line out the door, no masks, no distancing.

I understand the decision to let the Stay At Home order expire is based on the governor outlining that the goals have been met.
But I’m not going to agree that this is a good idea. I’m not going to be breathing any sighs of relief about the safety of myself & others anytime soon.

And, based on the Minnesota Nurses Association response, I’m not convinced that all of these goals *have* actually been met.
So no. I’m going to continue staying home. I’m going to continue being cautious for myself & others.

Ok. Thread done.
Be safe. Be kind. Wash your hands and think of others.
