I have noticed that I don’t feel the same way for western music as I do for kpop music; With western music, I focus more on their music then anything really but with kpop, I feel there is more obsession on the fans part
Is it the difference in propaganda? Is it how artists react differently to their fans? Western artists are more private regarding their life compared to kpop artists that are constantly providing something to their fans...
The most that we get from western artists are photos in insta or clips on their stories. While in kpop artists they have vlive and YouTube channels with blogs of their lives...
Tbh I enjoy the ability to only focus on western artists music without thinking of views and who’s number one, I mean if I like it then I like and that’s the end of the story...
Or is this obsession only in the twitter platform? However, does that even make a difference considering that media (Twitter) plays a big role in an artists career, so artists rely on the obsession of fans...?
Also, what’s the difference between an artists and an idol? If I’m seeing it correctly, being considered a musical artists (musician) is better than being called an idol..?
I guess what I want to say is, why do I feel like with western music I am more free to just enjoy the music but with kpop it feels like a job and a constant competition, at the end of the day it’s music, so where is the difference?
Please don’t confuse this thread as a thread of “western music is superior” My intentions with this thread was to see why there is a difference in fan-artists reactions in kpop and western music (if there is any!) I genuinely want to have this conversation..
I don’t know if this thread even makes sense but it would be nice to know that someone is just as confuse and curious as I am, if you have read this far, thank you!
