THREAD: Hey guys this is gonna be long but its important so bare with me please and if you end up agreeing please like and retweet so it can reach more people.

I’m sure you all know that Islam gives women the right of "خلع" which is divorce legally initiated by the woman.
From an Islamic perspective, if a woman asks for divorce for a good reason, she doesn’t have to pay back her dowry. Examples of good reasons are emotional neglect, stinginess with finances and other morally questionable behaviors.
If the women asks for a divorce for a neutral reason, she still gets it. The only difference is she has to pay the man back the dowry he gave her. Examples of a neutral reason could be that she doesn’t love him anymore, or she finds him boring, or literally no reason at all.
Bottom line is, SHE GETS THE DIVORCE IF SHE WANTS IT - regardless of how the finances of it will be handled afterwards. I realize I’ve given a lot of background information but its really important for what I’m about to say. CONTINUED:
Its come to my attention that only 20% of all Qatari women in Qatar who ask for a divorce end up getting it. In the other 80% of cases, she is turned away. This, of course, could indicate that we have a good system of rehabilitating families. Thats great. But more often-
it means that women who’s problems are deemed ‘managable’ are dismissed, to keep the divorce rate under control. In other words, if you live with a man who is physically abusive or otherwise has some kind of serious and dangerous mental illness, then you’ll get the divorce.
In any other case, you won’t. SPECIALLY if the husband doesn’t want you to leave him. This directly contradicts the laws of our religion, which we should use in the laws of our nation. A woman should be able to get a divorce even if she’s being crazy about it, full stop.
You can try to rehabilitate, you can try to fix the problem, you can try whatever. But if she still wants thay divorce, she needs to be able to get it with the full support of her nation.
I’m saying this for two reasons:

1. If you are a woman who is about to be married, or the guardian of a woman who is about to be married. Speak with a lawyer about adding a clause in your marriage certificate clearly stating that you have the right to divorce if you wish to.
2. If you work in the Ministry of Justice, or in any shape of form have any influence on the marital laws, or know someone who does. PLEASE use your power to make a positive change for the countless mothers, sisters, friends and daughters whose God given right is denied. Bless.
