Back in 2015 I fought tooth & nail to get Corbyn on the ballot and for him to win. I did it because I was convinced a more radical socialist programme cld capture the public imagination and win a GE. I only doubted we could win because of the attacks within our own party
When we came so close in 2017 part of me was not surprised. It had played out pretty much as I'd imagined. An anti establishment candidate firing voters up in anti establishment times. What I didn't forsee that night in June 2017 was how Brexit would make it all unravel.
As soon as we started to backtrack on our pledge to respect the referendum result, I knew we'd die in a GE. I became frenzied about warning members. I spent more time warning about Brexit than attacking the Tories because I knew it would cost us a GE. When I say knew, I mean KNEW
When it all came to pass as I'd predicted, it added insult to injury when one of the primary architects of that defeat, was elected leader! It was like a bad dream. So I admit, I'm not, nor will ever be a Starmer fan. I do however hope he wins the next GE because I bloody hate
the Tories. Can I foresee at this point a victory for Starmer because he's so slick and 'forensic'? No. Nor do I see him getting trounced either. I have absolutely no idea how it will work out. These are unpredictable times and whilst the Tories are ahead in the polls now,
how the rest of this Covid19 crisis plays out and the govts handling of the economy after, could see them become very unpopular. That could be Labour's window to win as long as we don't reopen the Europe debate and remind voters we betrayed their trust in 2019.
I will always wish Corbyn had become PM, till the day I die. I know thousands of you are grieving still, like me. But the difference between us and those fucking sabateurs, is we actually care about people and want to see the Tories smashed in a GE.
Let's just hope when that day comes, we win on an anti war, anti austerity, pro Nationalisation platform, because if we do, Corbyn will have won after all
