About this discussion I’m seeing: I understand more than probably anyone how difficult it might be to keep your home clean under current circumstances. But your solution right now cannot be, “Get a low-wage worker [almost always a WOC] to risk their life to clean up after me.”
There are near-endless other ways to get a handle on your mess without asking someone else to endanger themselves. I have many suggestions, for example! And there are plenty of other great systems and books and such.
In normal times, I don’t have any issue with hiring cleaners as long as they’re paid well, treated very well, and valued for both their labor and their humanity. But right now, when the lowest wage workers are the ones at risk and being made to work in unsafe conditions?
You can survive cleaning your own home to whatever level possible, even if it’s not to the much higher standards of your hardworking, talented cleaner. Lots of us are living messier than normal right now. It’s fine.
