The most important thing happening in America is 80,000-plus people are dead and more than 1 million infected...(or if you ask Republicans: the Obama administration had the unmitigated GALL to investigate when they realized our adversary, Russia was attacking the 2016 election.)

The absolute desperation of the second of our two sole major political parties to distract from the MOST IMPORTANT THING HAPPENING IN AMERICA; to evade the urgency of halting this relentless disease and death, is proof that they have no plan to stop it; and clearly no real will.

That may be the saddest realization you can possibly come to about a party -- that it is both functionally and morally decrepit; that it is bereft of not just competence, but even of a decent concern for the human beings they purport to govern. Instead, power is all that matters.

And I say this as the daughter of a Reaganite who married a Carterite so I have both parties' 80s-era messages still ringing in my head from the times my parents were around each other (and my father adored George W. Bush). Surely he is rolling in his grave now. Both of them are.

How much more of this can this country take? Honestly. It's just really feeling like a breaking point. Maybe just today, but it truly is feeling that way. Is the Barr-GOP argument that the Obama administration should have just let Russia attack? Is that even a serious idea?

I honestly don't want to even spend any more time thinking about it, because it is a pure distraction and makes no sense. But today, this is what the Party of Lincoln is wailing about on social media while our fellow Americans are getting sick and dying. Are we great again, yet?
