Watching the Unreal 5 Tech Demo and it....kind of looks exactly how I expected? Nothing we fundamentally haven't seen before, but lots more and smaller pixels and polygons and particles. Not a complaint, just an observation.
It'll make much more of a difference on the dev side than player experience, but the new lighting engine being purely dynamic and not needing any pre-baked maps seems like by far the most interesting bit to me.
Although there's this bit where they talk about particles "talking to each other" that I wish they'd elaborated on, not sure what that means in practice.
....Adding on to this thread - it's kind of interesting to consider the possibility that the change in generation might almost be a bigger deal for devs than it is for players.
