If you're wanting to push for a viable 3rd party in this country, the time to do that is during the 3 years there's not a presidential election happening. Stop being mad we're not revolutionizing our political system in 6 months and then dropping the subject after election day.
Also, if your feelings on the matter begin and end with "there should be one", just stop. WHAT party do you want? What do you want it to stand for? What do you want its platform to be? Wanting an option C just to have an option C is no better than picking between A and B.
I can't stand it when people vote for a 3rd party candidate JUST because they don't like the R or D nominee. That's no better than the "lesser of two evils" mentality you hate. Do you actually think your option C would make a good president? If not then you're a hypocrite.
And, just for the record, I say this as someone who used to have that same mentality. I own that I have been that hypocrite before. I was wrong then and the people who think like that today are just as wrong now.
I mean, even Bernie Sanders-arguably the most successful independent politician of at least the modern era-ran for president as a Democrat.
For me, personally, I will likely always be a Democrat. I'm a socialist, and the Democrat party is not a socialist party, but I see more likelihood in young socialists eventually taking over the Democrat party than in a separate socialist party rising to prominence.
