Thread: Why Billy Gilmour is Chelsea’s best youth player and is the best midfield talent in the league
Before we start, I just wanna day due to the lack of professional games Gilmour has played I won’t be using his stats across the season and stats for Premier League 2. Due to this it’ll be more picture and video based. Hopefully you understand! Now let’s get cracking!
Today I will be analysing Billy Gilmour’s game. He’s had two impressive games against Liverpool and Everton that really got the attention he deserved but I’ll analyse his youth and previous games. Also why I believe he’ll be the best player in his position one day.
In this thread I will talk about:
- Attributes Gilmour possesses and needs improving on

- How Gilmour can be the best player in his position in the world
Attributes Gilmour possesses and needs improving on:
Gilmour is such a well rounded player so it’s pretty hard to pick a key strength of his but let’s start with his awareness. Gilmour’s awareness is quite easily the best I’ve ever seen in an 18 year old midfielder.
The way he scans every area of the pitch to know where each player is, is almost like he has laser eyes scanning the area. So so mature for his age. Here are a few examples.
Another ability that Gilmour possesses is his long balls. He doesn’t show this off so much the games against Liverpool and Everton but his ability to clip a ball out wide so consistently is very satisfying to watch. The technique is very similar to Luka Modric. Have a look!
He has incredible line breaking passes. This varies from anywhere to the final 1/3 of the pitch to the middle of play. His ability to take out so many players with one pass is something I haven’t seen in a Chelsea player for a while.
