I've seen a lot of posts in the last 24 hours of people feeling adrift and unconnected in this fandom, worrying they don't fit in, feeling left out watching other people interact, and that absolutely breaks my heart, especially in this time of severe isolation... (continued)
I'm an extrovert by nature, and the type to strike up a conversation with people in line with me at events, etc. When I first came here, I felt very out of place too - like aah I just want to crawl back to my tumblr shell where no interaction is required! But now twitter is home.
The people you see who are very obviously friends with one another and you assume have been friends for YEARS, actually many of us have just met in the last few months/weeks! Even my BEST fandom friends I've only known for a year! I love meeting new people and making friends.
My only advice is to jump in! I know that's particularly daunting for introverts, but I can tell you that most people here - at least my mutuals - are all incredibly warm, friendly people. We're all here to love on Jamie and Claire! We have common interest! Let's squeal about it!
You're not being annoying or intrusive - twitter is ALL ABOUT INTERACTION, so please jump in, regularly and repeatedly! That's how you make friends. 😊 And again, don't assume we all go way back, because haha WE DO NOT!
