It’s no accident that when I need help/clarification/reassurance on statistical methods for my journalism that I will always go to women/nonbinary scientists over men, if I can.
Like in what world would I choose somebody coldly and condescendingly doing anything they can to find a hole in my work...over somebody that respects my knowledge and experience and who offers support, encouragement, suggestions, and kind corrections if necessary.
I'm realizing that not only is it annoying, it's actually super triggering for me to be dismissed out of hand, and to be spoken to condescendingly. So I HAVE to minimize the risk of that.
Let me also say it’s unjust that women and nonbinary scientists have this emotional labor disproportionately heaped on them. They’re too forking busy already.
