/ I would have tweeted my reaction to #AgricultureBill 3rd reading sooner but I had to take a moment to drink some tea and calm down.
/ I’m sure I’m not the only one disappointed by today’s proceedings. This #AgricultureBill is necessary and it was right for it to pass.
/ However, the opportunity to present an improved bill, that learnt from supply issues of Covid-19 and delivered on standards, as per the Tory manifesto, was missed.
/ The sector joined forces to highlight concerns on food security, trade and standards, and found a welcome amount of back bencher agreement. These weren’t small concerns. The argument from @neil_parish was expertly made and deserved to pass.
We must now look to the House of Lords stages to correct the deficiencies in #AgricultureBill, the demands of the sector aren’t going away and the need to make changes grows. We shouldn’t rely on statutory instruments and secondary legislation when we could fix things now.
