A year ago today, I was in car accident fresh out of graduating college... on my way to work because my store manager wouldn’t give me a day off.

Let me explain.
In October 2018, I took the position as assistant manager for a high end retail store (I won’t name in this thread). I had been working there all through college fulltime to pay tuition out of pocket. They treated me well, up until this.
After accepting the position (which was an hour away from home), I had to flip my entire section because it was THAT bad. From mannequins, to new equipment, to cleaning the store in general because it was dusty and crappy. Let me tell y’all. Only good part was it made money!
The store manager was friendly. She was very helpful and thankful I came from a store where WE DID EVERYTHING! Our positions never stopped us from stepping up and getting things done that needed to be done as a whole. At this new store, that concept was foreign..
From Nov-Feb, the store was a complete 360. New iPads, new computers, table set ups refreshed. Everything organized and flowing amazing! We were hitting monthly goals left and right, bonuses and etc! So great, my store manager took 2 vacations overseas (4-6 weeks at a time)
The other manager and I wasn’t able to take time off WHAT SO EVER outside of our off days. No sick days. Only time I got off was for an emergency dental extraction & funeral. At times we had to work hella overtime, open to close back to back for 4-5 days just to get time.
Fast forward to end of April (my 1st prom season which she wasn’t here for AT ALL bc she was prancing around Dubai 🙄), I am STRUGGLING! Store near by had to help and assist woth training me how to run a store during a half a million dollar season. Employees calling out and etc.
I was mentally draining months before but because this was my biggest season of the year for my department, I had to be strong and get through. She finally comes back and I request a day off for graduation.

Here’s where stings get ugly.
