1- Supporting point to below👇🏼

If we open the economy more people will get in cars & therefore more people will die from car wrecks.

Yet no rational person would blame a traffic death on our gov't re-opening.

Why is the mindset different w/COVID? 🤔 https://twitter.com/ScottAdamsSays/status/1260622017205661697
2- I get that people could get symptoms, not get tested, and then infect Grandma.

But an unlicensed driver could also get in a car, get drunk, and hit Grandma as she is walking outdoors.

In both cases Grandma could eliminate risk by staying indoors and prohibiting visitors.
3- However, if Grandma stays perpetually indoors there are now health risks with her lack of mobility.

Also, this assumes Grandma has a food source (someone brings her food, she lives in assisted living, etc.).

If she doesn't have this, she must face cars. She must face COVID.
4- And so it goes. It's adult risk decisions we've made forever. There are no silver bullets.

Worried about car accidents? Don't drive a car.

Worried about heart disease? Diet and exercise.

Worried about COVID? Minimzie engagement with other humans.

What am I missking?
5- Note that with cars, as with #COVID, gov't does take steps to increase safety:

- drivers license tests (COVID tests)
- seat-belt laws (masks)
- vehicle inspections (symptom tests, e.g. for a fever)
- traffic control systems (social distancing)
- Etc.
6- But... We don't ban cars.

Why? Because gov't can only do so much to ensure our safety, before the infringement on our liberties becomes too much.

For the same reason, we cannot continue to lockdown people.
