this might sound really dumb but i didn't think western boy groups still existed. i thought people kinda gave up on making them after 1d

which is a very dumb thought because i know 5sos is still a group but i never considered them a boy group cuz they didn't strike me as like an nsync/backstreet boys kinda boy group. like they don't do little dances.

another dumb addition: did 1d ever dance, because that was my only distinction between stereotypical western boy band to like a band of boys, but like 1d were definitely a stereotypical western boy band

not to say that the dances took anything away from the overall artistry/quality of the music, in fact personally they added to it, but the effort put into western boy band dances seemed to be very minimal, like they were choreographed to be easy for fans to learn

this thread was inspired by a tiktok comparing bts to wdw and me thinking "when the fuck did we make more western boy bands. i have never heard of these boys"

am i out of touch with the western music industry? yes, yes i am.
