Being wrongfully convicted of a crime is not like being struck by lightning or winning the lottery. If it happens to you once, there’s a better chance it will happen again. 1/
Individuals w/ criminal records are more likely to be targeted by the police, prosecuted aggressively by DAs & detained by judges. As @MassBailFund has pointed out, when innocent people can’t post bail, they often plead guilty simply to put an end to their pre-trial detention..2/

However, all across the country, people convicted of crimes are barred, by statutes, from serving on juries. See, e.g., Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 234A, § 4(7)...4/
In other words, even when wrongful convictions don’t result in lengthy prison sentences, they weed out potential jurors whose life experiences would make them uniquely qualified to assess the credibility & reliability of govt actors. end/ #endcashbail #cjreform@justicehealing
