i think the chronological order of it is adore you, lights up, falling, then watermelon sugar. adore you being first since he was “born there” as the peculiar boy who was different than everyone else, but finds his smile again and decides to sail away in the end and venture off.

coming in with lights up, we get scenes of his washing up on shore and some red scenes of him staring at the water with his reflection staring back at him, maybe his former self? “im not ever going back,” “do you know who you are,” “step into the light.”

not to mention the pic with the “multiple” harrys each in different outfits feeling different emotions. almost as if it were a trial and error? him going to all these different places and not finding where he belongs? this explaining the screams in the song before the end verse?

this cuts into falling, where harrys in a room that starts to flood and flood the more he shares how hes feeling until he’s completely submerged in water. a metaphor perhaps? hes falling because he left home in hopes to be happy like in lights up but in the end still feels lost.

theres a scene in falling where hes sitting on the floor panting after being submerged in water, and in lights up hes leaving the room drenched in water as he “steps into the light”

at the end of lights up hes in a motorcycle, again running away from the place hes in. lights up was filmed in mexico, and mexico shares a border with california which is where the watermelon sugar mv was filmed so maybe he escaped up north? a reach but still i am looking-

this concludes with watermelon sugar and how he once again washed up on a beach and found a place to be happy. i cant connect much cause the video isnt out yet but, ill leave it up to interpretation.

directors like to set the mood with lighting and such, notice how lights up was very dark and reddish which can symbolize aloneness. falling was pastel and grainy but also dimmed, the colors were very similar to one another, maybe symbolizing sameness and lack of expression?

watermelon sugar has different splashes of color, lights and summer feelings, symbolizing happiness and new beginnings. also on the dykwya website these are some of the things it generates. “carefree” “relaxed” “free” and “windblown” which is how his journey started back in eroda
