Since there have been questions about this:
#HBOMax will be free to HBO subscribers.
** If you subscribe to HBO Now, it will be the gateway to HBO Max starting May 27.
** If you get HBO through an MVPD such as Charter, DirecTV, Hulu the HBO Max app will be available on your
home-page hub and you'll log in using your MVPD authentication password.
** If you get HBO from an MVPD that does not have an HBO Max deal with WarnerMedia, you will have to drop HBO via your MVPD and sign up online to buy HBO Max directly through WarnerMedia if you want the
additional Max content. The price should be the same, around $15 a month, unless you were getting a promotional discount from the MVPD.
** The HBO Max app encompasses original-recipe HBO (as a separate content hub) as well as the Max programming.
**WarnerMedia has
a bunch of MVPD-HBO Max distribution pacts coming prior to launch which are expected to cover a large number of existing HBO subscribers, sparing people the hassle of dropping service and restarting.
**Whether Comcast and Dish will be there on day one is still an open question
