Casca's fall: A thread on why Miura is possibly a visual mastermind for a character's progression through patterns
Chapter 15

Guts attempts to save casca as they both fall down a cliff in the middle of a fight. This fall is what initiates everything and her opening up to Guts. Hence the beginning to their Friendship
Chapter 45

The second fall happens. This leads to Guts and casca making love and finding in their hearts that they love each other. A start to their relationship
Chapter 214

Farnese dives to save Casca as schierke floods everything outside the church. As they're stranded in Qliphoth she protects her with nothing but a knife. A crucial moment for Farnese's character arc (1/2)
I also think that was the initial push she needed as a character to ram a silver candelabra into a Pishacha's face (2/2)
Chapter 287 "Bubbles of Futility"

The final fall happens. Personally one of my favorite chapters and the saddest moments in the manga this fall is what makes Guts realizes that no matter how hard he tries; Casca will never be the same (1/3)
"You know This's happened before" A parallel to the second fall when casca was capable of showing emotions but now Guts is starting to realize she's currently just a shell of her former self, someone devoid of awareness and understanding (2/3)
No matter what, the eclipse will always come back to haunt them. That lump of iron may hold a sword and shoot canons but it's not a real functioning arm; Guts is still very vunerable. (3/3)
Interestingly enough in Japanese culture, and originating from Shintoism, Water is used symbolically to represent times of change or the flow of events leading to maturation. Could be a coincidence, but with miura I tend to think not
