CLEANSING RIGHT

(This thread is for those new to skincare or trying to get on the skincare train).

Cleansing is the first step in every normal skincare routine. In a basic routine, you cleanse with either a gel or cream cleanser. In an "extra" routine,

you cleanse with an oil based cleanser first, followed by a water based cleanser.

Whichever one your routine falls into, the point of cleansing is to get rid of makeup, oil, sunscreen, dirt and other debris.
You know why cleansing is so important? Because if you leave all of those nasties on your face, you'll most likely end up with textural issues, clogged pores and worst of them all: breakouts.

If you've ever slept with makeup on and woken up to fresh breakouts, raise your hand😒
It is very important that you cleanse your face. Cleansing is basically the bedrock of the rest of your routine.

How are you going to apply all your fancy serums on a dirty skin?
So now you know you have to cleanse your face, how do you choose the right cleanser?

This is usually a struggle especially because there are tons of cleansers so it's easy to get confused.
For some people, choosing the right cleanser depends on skin type. To other people, it's about what they want the cleanser to do: just cleanse/cleanse and gently exfoliate.

Whatever your case is, choose a cleanser without bad alcohol (alcohol denat.), fancy fragrance
Read the ingredient list, read reviews, speak to your aesthetician.
A good cleanser should never leave your skin feeling tight, squeaky clean or dry afterwards. This is why Cosrx low PH Good morning cleanser has been a staple in my routine for a while now. It does what I expect a cleanser to do: Cleanse my skin without leaving it dry.
HOW TO CLEANSE YOUR FACE (SECOND CLEANSE):

First step in cleansing is splashing warm water on my face and then going in with my gel cleanser.

Second step is gently massaging the cleanser into my face in anti clockwise motions.
Some of you massage your cleanser in with so much aggression, you'd think you're trying to orgasm through your pores.

MASSAGE GENTLY PLEASE
Take your cleansing down to your neck. Stop treating your neck like a betrayer, send some TLC down there. Thank you!

Rinse off with warm water.

Pro Tip: I never pat my face dry after cleansing, I go right in with a hydrating toner and my skin thanks me for that.
