Steven Bank of UCLA law discusses the idea of liability, and that even if a community eases stay at home, that is an economic and not a legal decision. Orgs may be still be liable in case of group transmission in youth sports. "They're kids, they can't assume the risk."
Johnathan Finnoff of USOPC also notes that even though risk of children dying from coronavirus is relatively much lower, they can still be left with lung and heart issues that are lifelong and prevent future participation in sports.
Panelist Lauren Sauer of Johns Hopkins said it's important to balance risk of transmission with benefits of playing sports. Laments lack of national framework to help local orgs make decisions based on their own levels of community transmission.
Sauer said youth sports are well more likely to return prior to pro leagues. Said leagues are more geographically contained and rules are more adaptable.
Bank of UCLA law discusses college sports and says the problem is the dorms. If you can't have students in the dorms you can't have athletes as a special class back on campus. (And I'm not just paraphrasing my own past tweets.)
