** NOTE TO READERS **

This will unfortunately be our final week providing ‘high frequency’ coverage on Coronavirus. Starting Friday we will be shifting to low frequency coverage, more akin to what you’d expect from a typical Twitter account, & less of a focus on breaking news.
2. We started this account in early February to raise awareness of what we felt was a major threat to our lives. Obviously we’re beyond that point (& need) now.

We’ve been humbled by how the account grew, & the smarts & backgrounds of our readers. It’s been remarkable.
3. We may return to ‘5th gear’ in future if the need or circumstances change, and we appreciate all your follows, questions & contributions to date. We’ve been particularly grateful for the high signal/noise ratio generally, and general pleasantness, which is rare these days.
4. On Friday, we’ll publish a list of relevant accounts to follow, which we think do a good job, and can serve as a reasonable facsimile / replacement. We’ll add those as a reply to this thread, and pin it to our profile, in case you miss the tweet.
5. On a personal level we’ll miss the intensity of breaking news coverage. The reality is after 3 months of near round-the-clock coverage, we must cautiously & collectively return to our ‘regular’ lives. This has always been a volunteer led effort, with no patron / $$$ behind it.
6. We look forward to seeing you again in future, if a little less frequently. If by chance you have any stories or anecdotes of how this account helped you in some way, we’d love to hear them. Our DM’s are open if you'd like to reach out that way.
