Let& #39;s talk about an immature middle schooler& #39;s favorite Vitamin: Vitamin D! There& #39;s growing evidence that vitamin D just might be the thing that helps us return to normalcy. Just in time for the summer.
First off--there& #39;s a ton of developing consensus on the issue. A lot of smart folks are looking into it, and they& #39;re all finding the same thing. We& #39;ve already talked about a study from India, but here& #39;s another one specific to any seniors out there: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3593258#.XrE0oF1wSjU.twitter">https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/pape...
A retrospective study found that for each standard deviation increase in good ole D, people were ~8x less likely to have a serious COVID-19 outcome, as opposed to a mild one. AND they were ~20x less likely to have a critical outcome versus a mild one. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3571484">https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/pape...

The best part of this theory is its intuitiveness. We& #39;ve known being outside is good for us for a long time. Heck, hospitals used to be built with "solariums", or rooms for the sickies to catch some rays. So! That may help explain why Florida--and in particular the population dense cities (Miami)--haven& #39;t been hit as bad. And, it definitely validates Florida for opening its beaches. S/O @GovRonDeSantis and @DrNealDunnFL2 for your wisdom. The people need their medicine! And a tan.
