why kaachi is actually very harmful: a thread @kaachiofficial
while it might’ve been quite obvious, this is a fake acc, unfollow or not but idc
first of they’re a “kpop group” based in england. kpop is a safe space for many asians as asians are rejected from many spaces especially in the entertainment industry, they overall lack representation in all forms
kaachi is trying to intrude. over the years we’ve seen several different non asian artist trying to be kpop stars. exp expedition etc etc. but a key factor is this is they all fetishized asian culture
i shouldnt have to explain why fetishization is wrong. they started off as fans of kpop they should’ve remained fans in the first place. they’re ruining a safe space for asians. name one large asian artist with no connection to kpop who has made millions. you cannot.
not to mention that factor of privilege. they didn’t have to go through things half the things others had to because they didn’t go through the actual process. their “practicing sessions” are them joking and playing
which is visible on their story highlights on instagram. they also participate in korean fashion trends and street wear. a koreaboo is more then wanting to be korean it’s taking parts of cultures and trends
not to mention they have gone clubbing and drinking, something many idols would be bashed and even be disciplined by their companies for. many idols don’t even to have control over their own bodies so to say they’re “kpop” is utterly disrespectful
not to mention that sense of privilege and the fact that it is so much easier for white passing and white people from places like england to achieve things then people who have trained to be idols from poorer areas and been rejected
more screenshots (lmao)
let’s also talk about lighter skin privilege. the amount of idols who are bashed for darker skin is ridiculous while they get a pass. even half black half asian artist who should be accepted into kpop are rejected because they don’t meet beauty standards
also the amount of black people who have been in kpop and been attacked is ridiculous while other non asians get praised. you do not want to diversify kpop you want to whitewash it
and to say “music doesn’t belong to one race” what do you think culture is? that’s why many kpop mvs have cultural symbolism in it. and kpop doesn’t need to be diversified because it’s literally a safe space for poc
and something else. genres such as rock, hip hop, soul, r&b, country, jazz etc were all created by poc but lost its cultural significance and meaning after white people overtook the genre and the same thing will happen and is happening to kpop
“isn’t it racist to this” no for the simple reason you cannot oppress the oppressor, white people have never been systematically oppressed and never experienced racial oppression as a whole
they could’ve easily been a uk group like little mix as they ALREADY had been sucessful in their kpop dance covers on youtube. but no you had to be “kpop”
not to mention none of them are fluent in korean? like what? and none of them are professional dancers? if you’re gonna join somewhere you don’t belong at least keep up damn
in their mv they have different dancing styles, they don’t do the same moves and their others or are too slow and overall lazy, the only one i can see with potential in dancing is nicole which many others have said
and their korean is... they tried 💖. they definitely need practice and many times in kpop groups when there’s a foreign trainee they’re with korean members and have gone through training for years
another thing is how they handle criticism. yes death threats are too much but people criticizing you for the fact that you need improvement? actual idols deal with this on the daily, get out the kitchen if you cannot handle the heat
also half their fans are either 1) underage and don’t understand the concept of race and culture and 2) are white and think their opinion matters on poc topics and also think the word “cracker” is offensive
