As a church-going Christian I understand the appeals to people to not see death as the ultimate end but let me tell you it is not comforting at all during a pandemic and y'all have to cut that crap out.
The Christian faith also teaches us that unnecessary suffering isn't OK, so why don't we focus on that for now and leave the talk of death to the side.
Anyway like, the tweets from conservative christians about how we are all too afraid of death seem to completely ignore the teachings about suffering and a loving god that wants to guide you through pain — not allow you to die from it totally unnecessarily.
Like I see no part of the bible that says "Embrace unnecessary death and suffering, let it wash over you."
Anyway like, the amount of Christian teachings you have to skip over to get to "don't be afraid of dying from this virus" makes up a significant amount of the New Testament.
This has been Christianity With Jessica. Tune in next time, when we talk about how it's bullshit to use Jesus as an excuse for your racism.
